Course overview
This course explores the foundations of quantum mechanics and quantum information, introducing technologies such as Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), quantum secure communication, and quantum digital signatures. It also examines the potential impact of quantum computing on conventional cryptography and introduces post-quantum cryptographic approaches, including lattice-based cryptography and the NIST standardisation process.
What you will learn:
- Fundamentals of quantum mechanics, quantum states, gates, circuits, and quantum information theory.
- Principles and applications of Quantum Key Distribution, including the BB84 protocol.
- Quantum communication protocols, digital signatures, and secure multi-party computation.
- Classical cryptographic techniques and their vulnerabilities in the context of quantum computing.
- Principles of post-quantum cryptography, lattice-based methods, and NIST standardisation.
