Course overview

Learn how to bring collaborative robots to life in a virtual environment using ROS 2 Humble Hawksbill. This programme guides you through installing and configuring ROS 2, MoveIt 2, and the Universal Robots driver on Ubuntu 22.04, while using simulation tools to test robot motion and control. By focusing on practical exercises and visualization in RViz, you will gain hands-on experience in programming, planning, and executing robotic tasks, even without a physical robot. 

What you will learn: 

  • Setting up ROS 2, MoveIt 2, and the Universal Robots driver on Ubuntu 22.04. 
  • Understanding ROS fundamentals, including nodes, workspaces, and launch files. 
  • Using simulation tools and fake drivers to validate robot behavior. 
  • Planning and executing motions for a UR5e robot using the MoveIt GUI and RViz visualization.
