Course overview

This programme introduces the most widely used PLC programming languages defined in the IEC 61131-3 standard and explores leading systems such as TwinCAT, CODESYS, and IDEC. You’ll learn key principles of PLC operation, programming, and commissioning while building a solid foundation in data types, variables, program structure, and software organization.

What you will learn:

  • How to distinguish between the most common PLC programming languages.
  • The use of basic instructions such as operators, arithmetic, logic, and conversions.
  • How to apply advanced instructions, including timers, flip-flops, counters, and triggers.
  • The principles of PLC operation, program structure, and subprogram management.
  • How to work with data types, variables, and ranges of visibility in PLC programming.
