Course overview

This course provides an overview of analytical techniques to characterize battery components and the cell itself. The course covers cell analysis, pack sizing, series/parallel connection, cell equalization, and BMS safety functions. Additionally, it includes methods for analysing the state of health (SOH) and state of charge (SOC) of cells, focusing on both pristine and aged cells.

What you will learn:

  • What analytical techniques are used to characterize electrode materials and electrolytes in batteries.
  • The process of cell pack sizing and series/parallel connections.
  • Cell equalization methods and BMS safety functions.
  • The standard requirements for managing lithium-ion cells.
  • Techniques for analysing cell state of health (SOH) and state of charge (SOC) using galvanostatic and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.
