Course overview
In this short course, you will discover how to build your own streets and public spaces using Sketchup and Google Earth. Since these are free internet resources, all you need is a modern web browser. Via these tools you will be able to visualise a street intervention and export it in a nice style.
This first lesson in the series is designed for urbanists who have never used Sketchup before.
We will walk you through each step and explain everything in detail. Then it will be your turn to play; just look around at the tools!

- Basic visualisation skills to effectively communicate ideas to a wider audience.
- How to use Sketchup and Google Earth to design streets and public spaces.
- Utilizing free online tools (Sketchup and Google Earth) with just a web browser.
- Creating and exporting street interventions in an appealing style.
- Acquiring additional SketchUp for Web skills: grouping, tagging, and manipulating shapes. Familiarity with the basics of Google Slides.
- Visualising and planning permanent interventions such as bike lanes and sidewalk extensions.
